Las Vegas #1 Trade Show Destination for 16 Years

LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas continued its reign as the No. 1 trade show destination in North America, hosting the most "Tradeshow Week 200" largest shows for the sixteenth consecutive year in 2009.

"Billions of dollars have been invested in the facilities, amenities, and service to make Las Vegas the premier convention destination and that collaborative effort continues to pay dividends," said Rossi Ralenkotter, resident/CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).

Las Vegas hosted 45 of the 200 shows, more than twice the number of any other destination. The Las Vegas shows encompassed more than 19 million net square feet. The next two cities on the list were Chicago with 25 shows and 7.5 million net square feet and Orlando with 18 shows and 5.3 million net square feet.

Las Vegas hosted six of the top 10 shows on the list, led by the International Consumer Electronics Show, the largest show on this year's list. Other top ten shows in Las Vegas include, World of Concrete, The International Builders Show, ReCon, the National Association of Broadcasters and the World Shoes+Accessories (WSA) Show. The shows are ranked by the amount of floor space consumed.

Las Vegas hosts approximately 20,000 meetings and conventions annually. The industry is responsible for 46,000 local jobs and an estimated $4.5 billion for the local economy.
